The Atheneum is open to receive guests most days of the year. So, plan your visit and stop by. We're closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, and Independence Day. In addition, our doors close at 3:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and the day preceding Thanksgiving.

Verbal Imaging Program for Blind and Low-Vision Visitors
Scheduled by appointment and free with museum admission
Specially trained docents provide tours for blind or partially-sighted adults, exploring the permanent collections and special exhibitions through detailed descriptions of works of art. Service animals are welcome. To schedule an appointment, call (860) 838-4046.

Visit the Austin House
The Austin House, the former home of A. Everett "Chick" Austin, Jr., the Museum's director from 1927 to 1944, is a National Historic Landmark. The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art invites contributors to the Sarah Goodwin Austin Memorial Fund to visit the home by appointment. For further information, please call (860) 838-4046.
