Directions and Parking.
The Wadsworth Atheneum is located at 600 Main Street in the heart of Hartford, just minutes from major highways and public transportation. Click here for directions via mapquest.

Parking: Click here for reduced parking rates and hours at local garages. Use mapquest or maps.google to find the best route from your home location. For the Trumbull, Talcott and Temple garages, the Museum Shop will validate your parking ticket.

REACHING THE ATHENEUM BY CAR
FROM SPRINGFIELD, MASS., AND POINTS NORTH Take I-91 South to Capitol Area Exit 29A. Take the Prospect Street exit. Turn right onto Prospect. The back of the museum is on the left, one block up.
FROM NEW HAVEN AND POINTS SOUTH Take I-91 North to Capitol Area Exit 29A. Take the Prospect Street exit. Turn right onto Prospect. The back of the museum is on the left, one block up.
FROM NEW YORK AND POINTS WEST Take I-84 East to Capitol Avenue Exit 48B. Turn left on Capitol Avenue, and when it ends, turn left on Main Street. The museum is on the right, two blocks up.
FROM BOSTON AND POINTS EASTt Take I-84 West to exit 54 (left exit, Downtown Hartford). After crossing Founders Bridge, turn left at the first light (Columbus Boulevard) to Arch Street. Turn right onto Arch. Go one block to Prospect Street. Turn right onto Prospect Street. Museum is on the left, one block up.
FROM ROUTE 2 AND SOUTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT Take the Downtown Hartford exit. Follow directions from I-84 West.
REACHING THE ATHENEUM BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
LOCAL Connecticut Transit buses stop directly in front of the Atheneum. Please call (860) 522-8101, or visit www.cttransit.com, for the latest local bus information.
REGIONAL Amtrak trains and major bus lines provide regular service between Hartford's Union Station and every major Northeastern city.

Parking: Use of online tools to map a route directly to your garage of choice is recommended. For information about locations and parking rates at public parking garages in the vicinity, please see special museum parking rates and hours of operation.

On-Street Parking: Metered parking around the museum is available at all times. Two-hour meters may be found on Main St., Prospect St., Arch St., and Atheneum Square North (the side streets adjacent to the Atheneum). Eight-hour meters can be found on Sheldon St. (one block to the south of Arch St.). Please observe signs on Prospect and Main Streets; some areas become tow zones after 3:30 p.m. on weekdays.

ACCESSIBILITY The Atheneum is wheelchair accessible. Visitors with physical challenges may use the entrance on Atheneum Square North. By advance arrangement, ASL interpreters are available for hearing-impaired visitors.
