Free Sneak Peek of Disney•Pixar’s Up
HARTFORD, Conn., May 4, 2009 – Join us on Saturday, May 9th for a FREE sneak peek of Disney•Pixar’s newest film, “Up,” which doesn’t hit theaters until May 29th. This special screening will take place in the Wadsworth’s Aetna Theater at 2:00 pm. Admission to the film is on a first come, first served basis, so early arrival is recommended. Doors open at 1:00 pm and visitors are asked to enter through the Avery Lobby.
The film will be introduced by Donald Evans, Senior Vice President of Animation Marketing for Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios and former West Hartford native.
“Up,” is a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. From the Academy Award®-nominated director Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc.), Disney Pixar’s “Up” invites you on a hilarious journey into a lost world, with the least likely duo on Earth.
In addition to the film, families can also take advantage of the museum’s Family ArtPacks, which encourage personal creativity and independent adventures into the galleries through looking, drawing, and hands-on activities, available in the Main Lobby. Museum visitors can also enjoy the creativity of Hartford’s youth during the 36th annual Hartford Youth Art Renaissance exhibition, which opens May 9th. The show will include works by Hartford students grades K-12.
The Wadsworth is located at 600 Main St. in Hartford, Connecticut. The museum is open Wednesdays to Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, please visit www.wadsworthatheneum.org.
