Phoenix Art After Hours hits the beach with 9th Wave! an original surf band from Storrs and the Atheneum's own Dr. Eric Zafran.

This is your first chance to experience some summer heat and your last evening opportunity to get a one on one look at works by Manet, Monet, Renoir and other Impressionist masterpieces in the exquisite exhibition Impressionists by the Sea.

Phoenix Art After Hours invites you to unwind after work. Have a drink and catch 9th Wave's cool rock 'n roll. Get a free Sneak Preview of FIRE in the Aetna Theater and get the inside scoop on Impressionists' rendering of sand, sun and sea from Dr. Eric Zafran.



The Wadsworth Atheneum stays open until 8 p.m. the first Thursday of every month. Phoenix Art After Hours provides a stimulating setting for mingling, with new friends and old, after work over art and music. Sip a cocktail, enjoy live music, attend a gallery talk, and even see a classic movie or art film.

9th WAVE 9th Wave comes to Hartford with their original brand of hot rod surf music. Composer and guitarist Mike Rosado's cool surf guitar sound will excite you with a sense of carefree times cruising the streets in cars, radios blasting out songs about sun, surf and good times. 9th Wave will definitely put you in the mood for summer.

Hitting the Beach at Normandy with French Painters of the 19th century
Curator of European Art for the Wadsworth Atheneum, Eric Zafran has the story behind the art and behind the exhibition. Dr. Zafran gives PAAH-goers an indepth and detailed look at what makes the works in our special exhibition Impressionists by the Sea true masterpieces. Don't miss seeing Monet's companion paintings of the beach at trouville displayed side by side for the first time.
